This is a little departure from my usual wedding and portrait work but I think this is the sort of thing that will become part of part of my business in the future. And by that I mean digital painting. This my first stab at it. It's a bit crude as an image but that's kind of the point since this effort is to showcase Corel Painter's ability to mimic natural media. I think that I really did succeed here in making it look like I sat down some paints and brushes and worked away at. If I got this image printed on canvas I might actually fool somebody with it; at least if they didn't look at it too closely. Sometimes I wonder if we're all being rather foolish going to so much trouble to imitate old-fashioned media on our computers. Did we adopt all this fancy new technology just to do things with it that we used to do without it? That isn't going to stop me, though. With my computer and my wacom tablet, I will continue to perfect painting without paint. My next project is a picture with people in. I'll start with one of my photographs and go from there. I love the look of paintings and I think a portrait done that way is a beautiful thing.
